Early Morning Watch

In Early Morning Watch, the world holds its breath. Hand‑burned in meticulous pyrography and softened with Pan Pastel hues, this 16×20 basswood canvas captures the intense stillness of dawn, when every detail sharpens and the quiet becomes almost electric. 

A lone heron stands poised at the water’s edge, surrounded by cattails, weathered pilings, and the faint lift of morning mist. Every line and shadow invites the viewer into that suspended moment — the kind of focused, attentive calm where scenery becomes meditation.

This artwork has been accepted into the Okaloosa Public Arts Gallery and will be on display at the Okaloosa Administration Building in Shalimar, Florida, representing the serenity and reflective beauty of the Emerald Coast’s early hours.
