Lisa Hamond -Pyrography Artist

I am a pyrography and mixed‑media artist shaped by the salt air and warm light of the Gulf Coast. Living in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, I draw inspiration from the shoreline — the curve of a shell, the sway of sea grass, the quiet patterns carved by tide and wind. These rhythms of the coast guide my hand long before the flame touches the wood.
My journey into pyrography began unexpectedly in 2017. I bought my husband a Burnmaster wood‑burning tool for our anniversary, thinking he’d use it to accent his woodworking projects. I watched him burn letters and swirls into the wood and thought, I can do that better — LOL. I picked up the tool, tried a few strokes, and in that moment, a pyrography artist was born. That same Burnmaster — now very much mine — is still the tool I use to create the artwork you see today.
For the next five years, I immersed myself in learning. I studied pyrography and art techniques from several accomplished wood‑burning artists, practicing linework, mastering detail, and learning how to balance darks and lights with intention. Every stroke became a lesson in patience, precision, and expression.
After a two‑year break due to family circumstances, I returned to my craft with a renewed fire — a deeper passion to create coastal‑themed art that reflects the calm, beauty, and quiet strength of the Gulf Coast. I’ve recently entered my first piece into an art competition (results pending), and I’m always searching for the next subject waiting to be brought to life in the grain of the wood.
Every piece I create is a story — one of quiet, calm, passion, and beauty. I invite you to explore the artwork and follow my social media pages to see new pieces as they emerge. Each creation is waiting for the right wall or shelf, ready to become part of YOUR story.
